Blue light Lenses, Explained
We spend a lot of time looking at screens. Blue light lenses are designed to filter a portion of the blue-violet light that reaches your eyes from digital screens and other light sources.
What do they do?
Blue light filtering technology is built into or added to the lens to selectively reduce certain wavelengths of blue-violet light.
Will they reduce digital eye strain?
They may improve visual comfort for some people, but blue light isn't considered the primary cause of digital eye strain. Long periods of focusing up close, reduced blinking, glare, and screen habits are usually bigger factors.
Who might consider them?
If you spend hours each day on computers, tablets, or phones, ask your optician whether blue light filtering lenses make sense for you.
